Artificial Life approaches to ecological modeling.

ADAMI, C.*

Abstract:
Artificial Life takes a "bottom-up" approach to modeling complex systems. This typically means that one models all of the constituent parts of a complex system directly, allowing the global dynamics of the system to emerge from out of the interactions between the parts. I will give an overview of this approach to modeling complex systems, with examples of its application to a number of ecological systems.
