Ecology in film.

Abstract:
Discussed are the challenges of producing television films on ecology and natural history stories, using four films as examples. Arctic Wars, made for PBS and narrated by E. G. Marshall, presents a debate over the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the oil industry. River of Stone, a Discovery Channel film narrated by Robert Redford, concerns ecological change to the Colorado River system. The Snow Wolves is a PBS film about the reintroduction of wolves narrated by Joseph Campanella. Wild Horses, Wild Times is a film for National Geographic Explorer.
