Changes in historical tree cover in two Miami-Dade County neighborhoods.

ABSTRACT- Historical aerial photographs were used to analyze the tree cover and land use changes in two mixed residential and commercial neighborhoods in Miami-Dade County, Florida—Opa-locka and Bay Shore. Changes in the number of trees, the percent tree cover, and in the extent of open land are discussed in relation to increases in population, changes and differences in social conditions, and to natural disasters.
