This paper shows a characterization of macroalgae communities dominating the rocky intertidial environments (crags, tidal pool, current channels and platforms rocky-sandy) of three localities of the coastal region of Careyes, Teopa, Playa Tejones and Playa Ventanas. The samples were obtained from all the visible growing patches, mosaics and strips of the algae communities in the rocky intertidial; each sample was preserved in a mixture of 4% formaldehyde and sea water. A portion of the collected individuals was deposited at IBUG (herbarium of the University of Guadalajara) as reference material. The sampling was carried out through two seasons: autum (September, October and November) in 1999, and winter (December, January, and February) in 1999/2000. With the collected data, a spatio-temporal analysis was performed with all the species. The most constant species are Chaetomorpha antennina, Ulva lactuca, Padina sp., Dictyota sp., Gelidium sp. and Hypnea spinella. The richest environmental was the platform.
