LTER partnerships foster inquiry-based science education experiences.

ABSTRACT- The Long Term Ecological Research Network (LTER) has initiated education partnerships between K-12 students and teachers, graduate students and scientists. Through sustained interactions with LTER Investigators, students and teachers experience inquiry-based in the field, learning experimental design and implementation, understanding long-term research practices, data collection and management, and publishing and presentations, for a complete scientific research experience. Hundreds of teachers and thousands of students have benefited in the four years since the inception of this NSF-funded program. This poster illustrates the details of the LTER education program, including undergraduate and graduate student participation, and partnerships with other science education programs.
