ABSTRACT- Web School of Science is a publisher of online educational materials for college and high school science courses. One of these is an environmental science course for which the online laboratories are now available. A wide range of topics are covered, including conservation of endangered species, interactions among species, risk and uncertainty, air pollution, and genetics and evolution. All of these labs were developed as a collaborative effort between the State University of New York at Stony Brook Department of Ecology and Evolution, the Marine Sciences Research Center, and Web School of Science. A number of faculty members as well as graduate students designed and wrote the labs. Each online laboratory reflects the background and expertise of its authors, and provides real-world examples of research being done in each area. Background information as well as interactive exercises are part of each lab. Web School of Science thus provides a novel method for teaching science courses at a variety of levels.
