Generalization in pollination systems: a food web approach. Memmott, Jane*,1, 1 University of Bristol, Bristol, Great Britain ABSTRACT- Most interactions between plants and their pollinators are embedded in a complex web of plant-pollinator interactions. These plant-pollinator webs can be studied in the manner of conventional food webs and the aim of this talk is to illustrate how contemporary methods of web construction and analysis can be applied to plant-pollinator communities. Three types of web will be discussed: visitation webs, pollen transport webs and pollination webs. Data from both temperate and tropical countries will be presented and the work discussed in the context of the conservation of plant pollinator interactions. KEY WORDS: Pollination, Food webs |
