Forest dynamics visualization using models. Wang, Xianli*,1, Song, Bo1, 1 Clemson University, Georgetown, SC, US ABSTRACT- Visualization of forest dynamics using simulation models can aid in comparing various management alternatives. In this study, the PnET-II model was used in determining ecosystem biomass. Combining the stand information with the modeling output, the dynamics of the forest were visualized. Using the PnET-II model, we calculated aboveground biomass and stand age, which were then used to estimate tree height and density for 3-D visualization. This study showed that 3-D visualization can realistically generate virtual forest whereby the researchers and the public can use different modeling assumptions to look at the various management alternatives.
