ABSTRACT- Many plants exhibit aboveground physiological acclimation to temperature. It is less clear whether roots or their mutualistic partners, ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi, respond to temperature in the same way. Respiration of ECM fungi in response to temperature may differ from that of roots and may influence their carbon demand. The objective of this research, therefore, is to explore acclimation to temperature by ECM fungi. Early results suggest that some ECM fungal isolates are unable to acclimate to temperature, but may exhibit different temperature ranges. This research may be important in the context of warming global climate.
