Insect Communnity Complex of Hibiscus syriacus.

ABSTRACT- This study was conducted from March to October in 2004 about insect population inhabit Hibiscus syriacus which is a national flower of korea and the result as follows. Total 145 species belonging to 61 families and 12 orders were collected. The number of species by food habits are Leaf chewer 11 species 6 families, Seed eater 1 species 1 family, Pollen feeder 3 species 1 family, Predator 22 species 7 families, Parasitoid 3 species 3 families, Pollinator 8 species 3 familes and Rester 95 species 46 families. Major pest insects are Leaf chewer, Seed eater and Sucking feeder. Notarcha derogata, Naxa seraria, Descoreggba simplex, Euproctis similis, Euproctis subflava, Miltochrista miniata and Anomis commoda are Leaf chewer. Halyomorpha halys, Rubiconia intermedia, Aphis gossypii and Coccus hesperidum are Sucking feeder. Dichocrocis surusalis is only Seed eater. The most dominant species of major insect pests was A. gossypii(0.82). Species diversity index was 0.00 in March, 0.06 in April, 0.16 in May, 0.66 in June, 0.94 in July, 1.07 in August, 0.84 in September and 0.42 in October. Economically importat species of major pest insects are A. gossypii, C. hesperidum, D. surusalis, N. derogata, R. Intermedia, A. commoda.
