Uzochukwu, Godfrey*,1, Murray, Kenneth 1, 1 North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC

ABSTRACT- A model interdisciplinary waste management capstone seminar was developed at North Carolina A&T State University to present ecological and waste management ideas from different disciplines in an integrated manner. Students have the opportunity to complete collaborative ecological and waste management projects and learn across disciplines. The capstone seminar introduces students to the interdisciplinary nature of waste management and covers the waste management aspects of natural sciences, physical sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, technology, and economics in an integrated manner. Students are introduced to ecological and waste management topics that enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed in post academic-endeavors. Examples of completed interdisciplinary ecological and waste management projects from different disciplines will be presented. The interdisciplinary waste management capstone seminar is an additional requirement to receive the waste management certificate at North Carolina A&T State University.
