Family, game and enjoyment in the knowledge acquisition about natural resources in Yucatan, Mexico.

ABSTRACT- We report results about the forms in which people acquired knowledge about the natural resources in the family, as a micro environment for the socialization of the children. In the study we applied qualitative techniques, in the frame of constructivism, according to which the individuals, in their daily life construct and internalize their reality from the interactions with the human beings and the means that surrounds them. In the field work, carried out from October 2003 to March 2004, we made interviews in depth with twelve people, members of four families whose head and sons belong to a coastal ejido in Yucatan, which has won national awards by its esteem towards the natural resources and the conservation deserving that make. The main results indicate what, in addition that during the childhood the members of the group acquired diverse knowledge about activities related to the natural resources, but also that the game and the enjoy played a very important role in the process, expressed in familiar and communitarian scope and in activities such as salt extraction, fishing and "chapeo".

SPANISH ABSTRACT- Reportamos resultados sobre las formas de adquisición de conocimientos sobre los recursos naturales en la familia, como micro ambiente para la socialización de los hijos, en un ejido costero de Yucatán. El estudio aplicó métodos cualitativos en el marco del constructivismo, según el cual, los individuos, en la vida cotidiana construyen e interiorizan su realidad a partir de las interacciones con otros seres humanos y con el medio que les rodea. Durante el trabajo de campo, realizado de octubre de 2003 a marzo de 2004, se hicieron entrevistas en profundidad con doce personas, integrantes de cuatro familias, cuyo jefe e hijos forman parte de un ejido costero en Yucatán, que se ha hecho acreedor a premios nacionales por su aprecio hacia los recursos naturales y la conservación que realizan. Los principales resultados señalan que, además de que durante la infancia los integrantes del grupo de estudio adquirieron diversos conocimientos acerca de actividades relacionadas con los recursos naturales, el juego y el disfrute tuvieron un papel muy importante en el proceso, expresados en el ámbito familiar y comunitario y en actividades tales como la extracción salinera, la pesca y el "chapeo".
