ABSTRACT- This presentation will highlight the current technologies and methodologies for detecting, mapping and assessing invasive exotic species. The scope of the invasive monitoring tools will include those presented during this conference and during the February 2003 detection workshop. We will focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the various invasive species detection and inventory methods, with emphasis on the application of geospatial data including existing GIS databases and remotely sensed imagery data. The goal of the interactive discussion will be to determine the subsequent steps needed to enhance invasive species management programs by employing available geospatial data technologies. The impact of the workshops on national programs, including the National Invasive Species Council's Early Detection and Rapid Response Plan, will also be discussed.

Key words: Assessment, Detection, Monitoring, Mapping
