(PMP049) Correlation between some fish species in acute toxicities of pesticides. Park, Yeon K.1, Kim, Byung S.1, Kyung, Kee S.1, Park, Kyung H.1, Shin, Jin S.1, Oh, Byung Y.1, 1 ABSTRACT- In order to determine the correlation of acute toxicity of pesticide for fish, five species of fish, carp(Cyprinus carpio), Israeli carp(Cyprinus israeli carpio), killifish(Oryzias latipes), catfish(Silurus asotus), and loach(Misgurnus anguillicandatus) were exposed for 48h in the static conditions to 15 pesticides for rice paddy, including 7 insecticides, 6 fugicides, and 2 herbicides. Highly significant correlations based on LC50s for four fishes were found; r=0.99 between carp and killifish, r=0.97 between carp and catfish, and r=0.97 between carp and killifish. However, no correlation between loach and other fish species was observed. Of the pesticides tested, the LC50 of benfuracarb for loach was 500 times higher than that to carp. Accordingly, it was suggested that the responses of pesticides for four fish species are able to assess the ecological effects in the environment. Key words: Pesticide, Fish, Correlation, Acute toxicity |
