ABSTRACT- The aim of this work is the study of the environmental levels of lead beside Castellon (a city with 145,000 people in the Spanish Mediterranean coast), near the most important Spanish cluster of tiles and frit ceramic industries and industrial areas. This work also tries to analyze the origin of atmospheric lead among traffic road and tiles ceramic industry. Samples were collected by using a high-volume sampler furnished with a cascade impactor, operating at 66 m3/h, for size segregation. Powder samples were dissolved in nitric acid, and lead was analyzed by ICP-MS. Environmental levels of lead, and their distribution versus particle size will be presented. Acknowledgements : We would like to thank Ms. C. Clemente (Universitat Jaume I) for their contribution and work on this project as well as to Generalitat Valenciana for the J.M. D. FPI grant. Authors are grateful to the Fundacio Caixa Castello-Bancaixa for financial support throw the P1.1B2000-05 project.
