TP8 Contaminant Bioavailability (314) Dissolved Bioavailable PAH in Portland Harbor Oregon, Spatial and Temporal Distribution. Anderson, K1, ViSalli, S1, Johnson, E1, Grove, R1, 1 Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, USA ABSTRACT- Passive sampling devices were used to study polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Portland Harbor, Oregon, including the Portland Harbor Superfund Site. Temporal variation between dry and wet periods were seen for both total PAH concentrations, and PAH profiles. PAH were also determined at the McCormick & Baxter Superfund Site on the Willamette River, in Portland Harbor. The PAH distribution profile was significantly different at this site compared to other Portland Harbor sites. Dissovled, bioavailable PAH range from 10-800 ppt in the Portland Harbor during the study duration. Dissolved, bioavailable PAH in the upper Harbor remains fairly constant throughout the year, ca. 10-25 ppt. PAH profiles and PAH ratios were used to discern possible PAH sources. Key words: PAH, bioavailable, Portland Harbor, Willamatte River |
