IP10 Emerging Issues in Analytical Chemistry (IP080) Portable Microfluidic Systems For Water Monitoring. Marle, L1, Greenway, G1, Paget, T2, 1 Department of Chemistry, The University of Hull, Cottingham Road, Hull HU6 7RX, UK, UK2 Department of Biological Sciences, The University of Hull, Cottingham Road, Hull HU6 7RX, UK, UK ABSTRACT- The emerging analytical technique of coupling microfluidic devices with chemiluminescence detection provides a powerful tool for environmental monitoring. This is a solution for portable detection systems because microfluidic devices have the advantage of low reagent consumption, low waste production, cost effectiveness, small sample volume and enables high sample throughput. The incorporation of chemiluminescence as the detection method is ideal due to its simple instrumentation and measurement set up which provides highly sensitive results. Here, we have demonstrated the luminol chemiluminescence reaction within a micro reactor for the determination of hydrogen peroxide in rainwater in order to produce a portable low powered battery operated chemiluminescence detection system to measure concentrations of hydrogen peroxide at levels less than 10 Key words: Chemiluminescence, Water Monitoring, Microfluidic Devices, Immunoassay |
