ABSTRACT- An interidal fish Boleopthalmus dussmieri available in plenty at certain sited Mumbai coast. Chlorpyrifos is a non-systematic insecticide used for control of variety of insect pests in India.During present investigation toxicity of chlorpyriufos to Boleopthalmus dussmieri was assessed and then effect of sublethal conentration of chlorpyrifos on enzymet activities in blood and liver of the fish was analysed. 24 and 96 hours LC50 of chlorpyrifos to the fish found 100 and 96 hours 52ug/l . An elevation of acid phophatase, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferse and alanine aminotransfearse was noted in blood after expousre of the fish to sublethal concentrations of chlorpyrifos whereas depletion of acetylcholinestrase and cholinestrase was noted in brain at the same concentration. Moreover depletion of lactate dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase and ATPase was noted in liver of the fish. The results of the present investigation reveals that toxic effect of chlorpyrifos could be possible by disturbed enzyme mechanisms.

Key words: Chlorpyrifos, Boleopthalmus dussmieri, Enzyme activites , Mumbai
