(PH266) Sublethal effect of deltamethrin in biochemical parameters of Ancistrus multispinis (Fish, Teleostei).

ABSTRACT- Deltamethrin (DM) is a synthetic pyrethroid group insecticide widely applied in Brazilian crops, in the veterinary medicine, in the public health against vectors due to low toxicity to the man and other mammals. However, to not-target species such as the aquatic organisms, mainly the fishes, DM is extremely toxic. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of sublethal doses of DM in biochemical parameters as CYP450, Na+K+ATPase, ChE and hemathology of Ancistrus multispinis, a south Brazilian native river fish. The fishes were exposed to sublethal doses of deltamethrin (2 tested groups and 1 control group) each one with 10 fish. After 96 hours of exposure the blood was collected by cardiac puncture and the muscle ,liver, gills and heart were collected for the biochemical analyse. The most effects were showed at the highest tested dose.The total CYP 450 and the EROD activity in liver were 20% induced. The Na+K+ATPase was inhibited 45% in the heart and 50% in the gills. The ChE activity was not statistically significant. The hemoglobin levels increased around 55%, the erytrocyte number 100%, and also the leukocytes increased around 3 times compared to control animals. These results suggest that DM, even at sublethal doses, can be toxic to aquatic organisms increasing the ecological relevance of this pesticide
