The apples showed to have one or more residues of pesticides in a single sample. Of the total of 83 samples analysed since the begginning of the program in October 2001 until March 2003, 48 samples (57%) are contamined by some kind of residue. The aim of this work is to evaluate the frequency and the toxicity grade of organochlorine residue found in apples, a kind of food that is daily ingested by the population. The samples came to LACEN/PR from all states of Brazil. The multiresidue analyse technic was used. The actives found in high percentual of frequency (%), contamination level (mg/kg), residue maximum level (mg/kg) and acceptable daily ingest (mg/kg) respectively were Dicofol: 49, 0.05 up 6.0, 5.0 and 0.02., Captana: 33.7, 0.01 up 0.2, 25.0 and 0.1, Chlorotalonil: 14.4, 0.01 a 0.28, use no authorised., Iprodine: 10,8, 0.1 up 0.25, 5.0 and 0.06. Dicofol, the pesticide of highest frequency, is an acaricide with chemical structure similar to DDE, carcinigenic metabolit to DDT. The use of organochlorines was forbidden in 1985, it could only be used in cotton and citrus in case of emergency. The number of the samples contamined with one kind of residue -17 samples, with two kinds- 22 samples, with three kinds 8 samples and with 4 kinds one sample. The constant presence of Dicofol with other products, even in low limits permited for the legislation is preocupied in the toxicological view. The chronic and the repeated ingestion of Dicofol can cause na accumulation in the organism and so some symptoms and pathologies can appear. Key words: apple, organochlorine, Brazil, residues |
