ABSTRACT- The endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are causing an increasing public and scientific concern. These chemicals have the ability to mimic or resist the action of endogenous hormones through several different mechanisms of action, and affect sexual development of fish and other wildlife. To date, of particular concern have been the chemicals that interact directly with estrogen receptor (ER) or androgen receptor (AR), and the marker genes have been mainly used are vitellogenin, zona radiata protein and choriogenin in liver which are regulated through estrogen receptor (ER). However, many EDCs which disrupt endocrine are not through receptor processes but affect gonad development seriously. In the present study, we cloned some of the genes related with sexual development from gonad of medaka ( Oryzias latipes), established methods of the quantitative Real-time RT-PCR for detecting more than 20 genes expression in gonad, investigated these genes expression profiles in gonad of medaka exposed to various EDCs, and proposed new marker genes for assessing EDCs.

Key words: Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs), Gene Expression, quantitative Real-time RT-PCR, Oryzias latipes
