ABSTRACT- The intake of vitamin C and iron by vegetables is essential for prevention of some diseases. Tomato is the most important vegetable cultivated both in the field and in greenhouses. The quality of food and its composition are being scrutinized more critically than ever before by the consumer. The nutritional value of tomato consists not only of carotene but also of vitamin C and iron. The aims of this work was the studying of vitamin C and iron content in some varieties of greenhouse tomatoes and the influence of the watering way on this content. The results of our experiment show that in assimilation of iron it is very small differences but in assimilation of vitamin C it is different not only in rapport with the kind of watering (drop-by-drop watering, normal watering) but also depending on the hibrids analyzed.

Key words: tomatoes, ferrum, vitamin C, watering way
