Vallés, Marta1, Barreiro, Carmen Mª1, Fullana, Pere 1, 1
ABSTRACT- The sustainable development leans on several basic principles such as the rational use of resources, the emissions minimisation and others. To do this, companies and institutions need the reorientation of their environmental policies towards a global sight, which contemplates material and energy flows between the productive system and its environment. And there is where the LCA is relevant, because it systemises the acquisition and generation of information and it helps to make objective the decisions that have to be taken towards this sustainable development. The environmental consultancy Randa Group performed an LCA of a cellular phone. This study was an assignment of Telefonica Moviles, who purchases several money of cellular phones. Though its procurement, they have a significant opportunity to help sustainable development and to help to develop green phones, just buying the most environmentally responsible ones. But, what is a green cellular phone? To identify a green phone may be a difficult task, and, so far, LCA is the most objective existing methodology. With the results of this study the direction will be able to take the suitable measures towards a more green purchasing.
