ABSTRACT- Iro River across the city of Chiclana (county of Cadiz) and ends in the creek of Sancti-Petri. This river receives the discharges of wastewater coming from the sewage treatment plant (STPs) from Chiclana. This river is inside the Natural Park in the Bay of Cadiz, being a natural habitat of numerous species of great ecological, economic and commercial interest. The study of evaluation of the autodepuration capacity of the ecosystem is being carrying out from the year 1999. In this study it was used environmental parameters like: analysis microbiological of bacterias which origin is faecal and recount of total aerobical bacterias, typical of this kind of system. It was also made physical-chemical analysis both of the discharge wastewater and of different points toward the outlet of the river. The summarised results in this study includes the correlation of the microbiological parameters with the physical-chemical, being proven the quick regeneration of the Iro River waters before their outlet in the creek of Sancti-Petri.

Key words: microbiological, river ecosistem, faecal bacteria, wastewater
