ABSTRACT- The big international dam of Bravo river, it is to 1000 km of Ciudad Jurez town and "Valle de Jurez" crop lands over riverbed. This study used the Microtox, Mutatox and FETAX tests to determinate if the dam act as toxic contaminants trap. The water and sediment's characterization was done on four consecutive months (june to september) in 4 sites. The results indicate that extracts of both water and sediments are toxic. The mutagenic and teratogenic tests show them, the potency of majority extracts was reduced in the absence of S9 activation, this is indicative of direct action contaminants. The tendency of acute toxicity was increase on the time. The rain was element important like contaminants carrier. The tests are cheap potencial monitoring tools in comparation whit gas chormatography analysis.
