ABSTRACT- The Transcarpathian region is the richest province of Ukraine, its main reacreation resources being mineral waters, climate and landscape. About 50 fields with medical waters of different types are known, among those the most widespread and valuable are carbonic waters. In 1989 and 1997 the IGS National Academy of Science of Ukraine, carried out examinations of mineral waters fields for the content of strong organochloric pesticides: DDT and its metabolites, HCCH and its isomers, aldrin, heptachlor; organophosphoric pesticides: methaphos, carbophos, phosphamide, phozallon; fluorine-containing pesticides: trephlane and others. Analytical experiments were performed using gas chromatography method. At the Transcarpathian region resorts concentrations of pesticides in mineral waters were as follows: 10-4 - 10-6 mg|dm3. According to data of the World Organization of Public Health about 80% of diseases are caused by contaminated water. Together with existing radioactive pressing chlorine-organic pestisides which enter human body with potabl water or by percussion way in concentrations over permissible levels cause such negative consequences as different diseases of chemical aetiology (intoxication, carcinogenic, mutageneic and teratogeneic effect). Water contaminated by chemicals is responsible for allergic and metabolism diseases including arthritis. Intestinal infection, gastroenteric diseases (colitis, gastritis, ulcer) and many others are associated with bacteriological and microbiological content of potable water. Even low concentration of pesticides in potable water constitutes a serious hazard to human health because their combined effect on human body is not understood. Pesticides intensify anthropogenic contaminants (radionuclides, heavy metals) influence on human health resulting in destruction of human genetic and immune system.
