ABSTRACT- Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds ( PAC) have been determined in marine sediment and mussel samples in various coastal marine environments ( Baltic Sea, Atlantic Sea, mediterranean Sea). Molecular indices based on isomeric PAH ratios allowaed to differenciate the pollution sources in the sediment between petrogenic and pyrolytic inputs. The BSAF values ( Biota Sediment Accumulation Factor) have been determined and exhibit different values pointing out clear differences between turbid and non-turbic waters.. The results are also discussed specifically from different uptake pathways and metabolism abilities of marine mussels. European Union ( BIOMAR Project EV5VCT96-300), Conseil Regional Aquitaine and IFREMER are acknowledged for their support.
