ABSTRACT- Advanced Oxidation Processes have become popular in water treatment applications for mineralization of contaminants. Its application to the mineralization of surfactants represents a very promising alternative to biological treatments. But in general, the state of knowledge about mechanisms of AOPs is still incomplete and the possibility of formation of objectional transformation products in route to mineralization represents an important drawback. In the present stuady LC-ESP-MS was used to evaluate the degradative process of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates in aqueous samples by using ozone plus hydrogen peroxide and Fenton plus hydrogen peroxide. Previous extraction and preconcentration studies by off-line SPE using polymeric and RP-18 cartyridges and/or dics have been evaluated. The results have pointed out the efectiveness of the above treatments reducing below 10% the initial amount of LAS in 30 min. Some TPs have been identified during the process and the carboxylic derivatives remains in small quantities at the end time of the process.
