ABSTRACT- A workshop organised by the ECETOC Task Force on (Q)ARs was held in March 2002 comprising of regulators, academics and industry addressed the current and future uses of (Q)SARs for mammalian and environmental end-points. The aims of the workshop were to 1. Summarize application of QSARs in regulatory programs around the world and identify further needs for use of (Q)SARs, 2. Review the possible uncertainty, reliability and applicability of these QSARs in the context of current scientific improvements, 3. Develop proposals for guidance on reporting QSAR results, (Q)SARs uncertainty, validity assessments and applicability criteria, and scope for regulatory use of (Q)SARs, 4.Develop a vision for a global (Q)SAR decision support framework for risk assessment and classification. The presentation will summarise the discussions and outcome of the workshop.
