ABSTRACT- The use of pesticides in agriculture may cause a significant reduction of non-target organisms in the environment. Protozoa play an important role in the environment as primary consumers. The goal of the study was the evaluation of toxicity of 3 fungicides: captan, dichlorofluanid and dodine, and its formulations in the Spirotox test. The pure fungicides were very toxic to Spirostomum ambiguum with 24h-LC50 values below 300 ppb (microg/L). Theoretical toxicity of formulations was calculated based on the amount of the active ingredient. The toxicity of the products was much lower than the predicted values. Organic solvents acetone and methanol were used to improve the solubility of ingredients, which are slightly soluble in water. Their influence on the toxicity of tested fungicides to Spirotox was discussed.
