ABSTRACT- OMNIITOX is a research project funded by the European Commission, which main aim is to find consensus regarding assessment of eco/toxicity impacts within Life Cycle Impact Assessment, to point out similarities and differences between Life Cycle Impact Assessment and Environmental Risk Assessment and to create a support information system for elaboration of LCA and ERA studies. The project includes research and technical development as well as the development of 5 case studies within different industrial sectors. The presented work shows the results of Life Cycle Assessment of cosmetic products, carried out within Cosmetic Sector Case Study. These LCA focus on the chemical ingredients contained in the products under study and aim at evaluating the impacts of the whole life cycle, paying great attention to eco/toxicological impacts. The Eco/toxicity impacts are characterized by using new developed characterisation factors obtained with different methods within the research and development work packages. A comparison of the results obtained by analysing the same products with different eco/toxicity characterisation methods has been carried out in order to point out differences and similarities and give useful feedback to research work packages for further method development.
