ABSTRACT- In 2000, 31 January the heavy metal contamination of Tisza has derived from the dike bursting of the mining industry lake, which is located near to Nagybanya (Romania). During three days appr. 100 000m3 sludge containing cyanide and heavy metal ions was carried by Szamos into the Tisza. The collected soil samples were taken two times from the villages of Upper-Tisza namely: Gulacs, Kisvarsany, Aranyosapati, Gergelyiugornya, Tarpa. The soil samples was taken from the depth of 0-50 cm, by 10 cm layers from the flood plain and defended territory. Gulacs Among of the examined elements was obtained the enrichment of Mn, there was not other considerable deviation. The Mn content of soil samples differed between 253-310 ppm on the clear plot, but it reached 800ppm value on the flood plain. Next year the enrichment of Mn was obtained again originated from flood plain, some of the case 200% deviation measured compared to the control samples. The quantity of Pb in soil samples was well measurable on the contaminated territory. Gergelyiugornya There was typical the Zn and Mn accumulation, the concentration of others not increased. From the data of 2001 year the accumulation of Cu, Zn and Mn was considerable on the contaminated side. The Pb content of soil was greater on the flood plain, than on the clear territory. Aranyosapati The contamination of soil was detectable for Cu, Zn, Mn and Pb first of all. Their concentration showed 3-10 times more, comparing to the control territory. The samples originated from the flood plain, showed a considerable accumulation of Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb, Ni, Cr, and Cd in the year 2001 also. Kisvarsany The concentration of scanned elements increased in the flood plain exception the Ni. The Cu content of samples reached 44 ppm, the highest Zn content was 82 ppm, the Pb content 35ppm. In 2001 the concentration of all elements on the flood plain were substantially greater, than the control territory, except of Ni and Cr. The Pb accumulation of soil was significant on flood plain, it was measurable 5-10 times more compared to the control samples. Tarpa There was found greater content of Cu, Pb and Zn among of collected soil samples, the value of difference is variable compared to the control. The change of Zn content was important. In 2001 the Cu, Zn, Mn and Cr content of soil samples were usually greater on flood plain than the control territory.
