Harmfull Prejudices : A Current View of Homosexuality. Ramirez Nunez, Juan Carlos*,1, Restrepo Atuesta, Maria Fernanda2, 1 PARTIDO LIBERAL COLOMBIANO, UNIVERSIDAD DEL SINU MONTERIA, MONTERIA, CORDOBA, COLOMBIA2 UNIVERSIDAD SIMON BOLIVAR, BARRANQUILLA, ATLANTICO, COLOMBIA ABSTRACT- This descriptive-style research, surveyed the myths, prejudices, and stereotypes about homosexuality, held by senior students of the Health Sciences Faculty in a private university of the Colombian Caribbean coast. It intends to explain some disadaptive behaviors among the future health professionals. The objective was to establish the view of students about homosexuality and how it directly influences the quality of attention and the treatment provided to this type of patients. The results reflect a high degree of homophobia, the presence of myths and stereotypes among the male population, and a higher level of acceptance and clearer ideas among women concerning homosexuality. But, equally between female and male senior students in the Health Sciences Faculty Health Sciences, they are against granting equal rights to homosexuals, including the adoption of children Key words: Prejudice, homosexuality, bisexuality, therapist-patient relationship,, egodistonic homosexual |
