Vaginal Infections and Treatment.

ABSTRACT- The goal of the study was to evaluate the frequency of vaginal infections among patients attending Dispansery for women in Prilep. Material and methods: Gynecological examination, microbiology examination, vaginal and cervical smears were performed. Results: A total of 869 women were examined within the study period. Of these 554(64%) had vaginal infections. 365(66%) were diagnosed to have acute and 189(34%) had chronic vaginal infection. Half of the sexual partners of our patients were examined and treated for STIs. We registered in 511(92%) patients remission and the rest of the patients experienced infection with different infective agent and were additionally treated. Conclusion: Gynecological examination is important for diagnose and treatment of vaginal infections, but regular check ups prevent their chronicity.
