Parent, Genevieve*,1, 1, 1, St-Jean, Benoit*,, 1 Clinique 1001, Montreal, QC, Canada

ABSTRACT- Sexology is a science domain studied and applied in many countries. The schools of thought and interventions are as diverse as the professionals who use it. Montreal remains the most complete sexology school and professional training worldwide. This workshop aims at presenting the four main approaches used by sexologists in their clinical practice here in Montreal : the cognitive-behavioral, the humanistic, the sexoanalyst and the interactional-systemic approaches. Each will be defined in their conception of sexuality and its troubles, their methodology for assessment and therapy and their treatment objectives. After the theoretical presentation of the four approaches, a given sexual problem will be analysed by the speakers according each approach. This workshop is of great interest for any therapist who works with patients having sexual problems. From the four approaches, at least two will certainly be significant for the therapist′s future work.

Key words: approaches in sexology, assessment, sex therapy, sexual dysfunction
