Sexual Practice and General Health.

ABSTRACT- OBJETIVES: The objetive of this work is to know the relation between the sexual practices and the general health. MATERIAL AND METHODS:Descriptive, traverse study with a population reveille of 1128 students (until 19 years old)of public and private schools of Galician (Spain). They made a structured, voluntary, autoadministred and anonymous questionaire with social (age, sex, studies, religious,...)and sexual behaviours variables and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28 Items). We use SPSS 11.1/Windows for analysis of data. RESULTS: 33.9% is 16 years old; 30.5%, 17 years; 21.5%,18 years and 14.2% is 19 years. 47.3% is man.50.6%lives in the urban means, 29% in the rural means. 529 began sexual practices. 62% has started the coitus among 16-18 years old. In the last year, 50.1% had coitus 1-3 times/month and 59.7% had one couple. 83.4% used the condom and 72.2% always use protection methods. We investigated the significant differences between sexual practices (age the first coitus, protection methods, frequency use methods, coitus frequency and number couples) and the four factors or GHQ-28 Items: A(somatic symptoms), B (anxyety and insomnio), C (social dysfunction) and D(severe depression). CONCLUSIONS: We have not found psychiatric significant differences in function of the sexual practices investigated.
