First Protector Method and Sexual Double Standard.

ABSTRACT- OBJECTIVE: To know the relation between the first anticonceptive method and the sexual double standard. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Descriptive transversal study with a diana population of 5036 universitaries students, of 1st, 3rd and 5th/6th course, of the University of Vigo (Spain). All made The Sexual Double Standard Scale and a structured, voluntary and anonymous questionnaire for evaluating socials variables and last sexual practices. We did the data analysis with SPSS/Windows. RESULTS: The half age is 20,72 (SD= 2,61) and the 59,4% is woman, the 59,1%, 31,9% and 8,9% is making 1st, 3rd and 5th/6th course, respectively, in the specialities of Humanities-Politics-Socials (1938), Scientifics-Tecnicals (3548) and Fine Arts (128). The 48,2% of the sample started the intercourse at 18,24 years old (SD= 2,0) and the half punctuation obtained in The Sexual Double Standard Scale were of 5,2741 (SD= 5,4205). There is significative association between The Sexual Double Standard and the first protector method used (X2= 12,925; p= ,044), problems with this birth control method (X2= 8,894; p= ,012) and who propose it (X2= 23,333; p= ,000). There is not significative association between the Sexual Double Standard Scale and the others variables investigated. CONCLUSIONS: This results have of to bear in mind in the contents of any educational programme.
