Affective and Sexual Education Program at Francisco Arruda School in Lisbon.

ABSTRACT- In a previous work we presented the results of a detailed questionnaire of attitudes, conducts and basic sexual information of a group of 33 students of both sexes (aged 14-17 years) , with nine years of education (compulsory education) at Francisco Arruda School in Lisbon. As the findings showed high levels of preconceptions and unclear ideas about sex we decide to implement a Sex Education Programe (SEP) named " Crescer Com Alegria" with the support of the Executive Committee of our school, and in the absence of a National Programe of Sexual Education. The SEP project is an integrated effort of several partners and has the purpose of evaluate a group of 13 students,beginning at 7 level of education,aged ranging from 12 to 14 years,(9 boys and 4 girls) during three years using qualitative and quantitative methods. An evaluation of the opinions of parents and students before initiate the project was quite positive and we will discuss the advantages and limitations of this project on the basis of our experience.
