Psycho-bodily approach: treatment of a case of female sterility and sexual traumatism.

ABSTRACT- Psychotherapies which allow to reunify the body and mind are currently very fashionable in particular hypnosis and the EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This case presentation gives evidence that these approaches can bring a psychological and physiological change. A thirty years old woman had been sent first able for a panic disorder hiding an old history of sexual violence and an infertility of partially gynaecological origin. The healing process started when the patient felt ready to release the control that she had on her body , to surrender and to agree to rely a man therapist. Hypnosis first released her from her infantile fears and anxiety leaving the place for creativity such a long time put to sleep. Metaphors around anchoring, safety and of fluidity contributed to release again menstruations and to authorize to draw from these resources and to find more self-confidence. Whereas the patient had several (PMA) assisted reproduction unsuccessfully before therapy, an IVF (in vitro fertilization) programmed made a success from the first attempt. Finally pregnant the patient chooses this moment to treat her rape by EMDR, she always described as an accident with a lot of culpability and shame. Ten years before during the sexual aggression, she was living a dissociative experience (separation of mind and body to survive). During 10 EMDR sessions she relived in her body adjusted pains, emotions and cognition while associating new resources. This interesting case makes it possible to discuss on explanatory models neurobiological, hormonal and psychological for hypnosis and the EMDR by giving a lighting on the way in which these methods can release the spirit and the body in a powerful and unconscious way in synergy.
