Our aim was to verify if brain activity related to standardized visual stimuli (positive, negative and neutral slides) was similar in these groups. We examined 40 subjects, 10 in each group (male, female, MtF, FtM). We registered all the subjects' brain mapping during the presentation of each set of slides, using a special cap and a 32 channel Siryus P.C. A following statistical analysis showed a significant difference between MtF and male subjects and between FtM and female subjects. Even MtF and FtM were different from each other. In conclusion this pilot study (despite the small number of subjects) confirms that GID subjects' brain activity is similar to the activity of the control groups of the opposite biological sex. Key words: Gender identity, Brain mapping, Visual stimulation |
