Alvarez-Gayou, Juan Luis*,1, Millan Alvarez, Paulina1, 1 Instituto Mexicano de Sexologia, Mexico

ABSTRACT- Introduction/Objectives Last century several authors; in the US Alfred Kinsey performed a national surveys on sexual behavior which showed important and interesting correlations between social factors and the behavior patterns of males and females. Others in other countries followed such as S.I. Asayama in Japan, P. Simon in France and M. Hunt in the United States in the 70′s. More recently other authors have also made new studies. Research in this sense is crucial to understand many behavioral aspects of a population and for a long time we have felt it necessary to have such information for Mexico. Method/Participants The place where it took place was the town of Cuernavaca in Morelos, Mexico, specifically, the Centro de Atención Múltiple No 6 (Center for Multiple Attention) where people who have hearing difficulties are helped. The sample taken for this research consisted of 37 people, 17 women and 20 men, whose ages ranged form 17 to 22 years old and who were studying the three first years of junior high school (considered a special high school). The methodology for this research was the use of focus groups where participants expressed themselves through sign language. All sessions were videotaped. Main body/Results/Conclusions The data collection of this research was done by means of a self applied questionnaire that has 84 open and closed questions, for the closed section we developed codes for multiple choice responses. The questionnaire is divided in six sections: a) general, b) for married persons or live in a couple, c) for males, d) for females, e) for homosexual persons, f) for bisexual persons. To this date we have 1,200 respondents from several states of the Mexican republic, such as Morelos, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Yucatán, Chiapas, Aguascalientes y D.F.. The sample is composed of 68% males, 32% females, the average age is 28 years. Among the demographic variables for comparative analysis are age, gender, gender preference, years in school, income, single or married, religion, attendance to religious services, and work. The questions answered gave data on gender preference and activities with the same gender, relations outside the formal couple, abortion, sexual dysfunctions, orgasm, G spot, coital positions, coital frequency, behavioral expressions of sexuality, etc. The sample detail is of females, 87% heterosexual, 8% lesbians, 5% bisexual and of the male group 79% heterosexual, 13% homosexual and 8% bisexual. Some of the relevant results are: have had sexual intercourse outside the formal couple 42.98%, concerning abortion: men that have had a partner that has undergone the procedure 13.4% and females that have undergone abortion 14%. Other interesting results can not be presented here due to space limitations.

Key words: Mexico, sexual behavior, male sexuality, female sexuality, homosexual
