Freins à la consultation pour troubles sexuels et solutions apportées dans le monde francophone. Giami, Alain*,1, Levinson, S.1, Levan, C.1, 1 Inserm, France ABSTRACT- In France, General Practitioners do not receive any specific training in sexual health and sexology during their basic training. Sexology is not yet part of the curriculum. Consequently GP's are no well prepared to communicate on sexual issues, to explore the sexual problems presented and to propose appropriate treatments. The presentation will describe and analyze General Practitioners' attitudes and professional practices regarding sexual and reproductive health problems including, contraception, abortion, HIV infection, STIs and sexual dysfunction, which are considered as major dimensions of sexual health. GPs are confronted to different problems : on one side they have no received the technical training that would help respond efficiently to these issues, and on the other side they feel rather uncomfortable communicating on sexual issues. But male and female GPs do not have the same practices. Male GPs appear more reluctant to deal with female sexual problems, whereas female GPs feel more comfortable in dealing with such issues. On the contrary male and female GPs seem more comfortable in dealing with male and female sexual dysfunction. Key words: Sexual problems, General Practitionners , training physicians |
