Beyond PDE5 inhibitors.

Carrier, Serge*,1, 1 McGill University, Monytreal, Qc, Canada

ABSTRACT- The most effective oral agents for erectile dysfunction (ED) are inhibitors of type 5 cyclic guanosine monophosphate-specific phosphodiesterase (PDE5). Their ease of use has made them the first line therapy if not contraindicated. But what do we do when they fail? Is there alternative? Vacuum constrictive device for erection, intraurethral therapy and intracavernous injection therapy are options available to the patients. Penile prosthesis will be an excellent option for the patient not responding to other therapy or not interested in other alternative. What is the role for sex therapy in this situation? This presentation will discuss the alternative ED treatment when PDE5 inhibitors therapy fails.

Key words: PDE5 failure, Alternative ED thearpy, erectile dysfunction
